Current events is a section for....?

to discuss current events. so why is this place full of negativty towards other users, why can't you put your opinion across without someone insulting or reporting you. and a lot of questions are referring to others users, either in a negative way or admiration of others. current events, just like other subjects are there for everyone. whats with the clique. i don't get it. do you? has the mccan issue divided yahoo or is it basically a popularity contest. to me its schoolyard business and i feel as a responsible adult the best thing to do is withdraw from it altogether. whats your opinion?

Current events is a section for....?
you're right...it's schoolyard business at the moment and it's so hard to find a genuine current events question among all the backbiting or rallying of the troops!
Reply:not everyone on here is adult enough to voice objective opinions.
Reply:I agree with you!

If anyone would like to live in a society where people aren't allowed to express their opinions then go to North Korea.
Reply:you got my vote; I hear you
Reply:Wait!!! I'm coming with you.
Reply:Real-time news and activity.

Along the way,

Creeps seem to be creeping out from the graveyards too.

With lost sense of direction and purpose of life.

What do you think?
Reply:It's schoolyard. And generally angry people w/multiple accounts

I don't pay attention anymore

As you can see from the responses they have nothing to say
Reply:We get into the habit of talking negatively because that is all we see on the news. Negative negative negative! I always wished there was a good news channel because I know a lot of great things that are happening everywhere, but they are seldom reported. And so, the news is depressing.

So let's start a new trend ok?

Currently: I am involved with a lady in WV who runs the pound there. She puts dog pix on the web and I make the pix lighter or darker as they need it, and I name the dogs and that way they are more likely to be adopted. Been doing that for about 6 years now. A rescue group saw the effort the lady puts into finding the dogs homes, so now they are transporting the dogs to shelters until they are adopted.

Almost none are euthanized now.

I know there is more good current events news out there so tell it to me!

.
Reply:Current events became a chatroom the moment the Maccann story came about. The whole point of a healthy debate is to respect others views and if one has an opinion,to back it up if possible with thoughts on the subject without getting personal towards others.Have a gold star.
Reply:Its always been like this on here, and even different sides of the McCann issue come together, actually.

I remember this kind of thing ages ago, its strong personalities, and a few odd balls thrown into the mix!
Reply:I have been staying away recently, because it's full of McCann questions that have been asked a hundred times before, or silly questions about other users - either insulting others or people just looking for others to say how wonderful they are. Pretty boring all round!
Reply:i'm with u on that....not just this part but it's becoming like no1 can ask a question without being insulted anymore....
Reply:The McCann subject has divided people. Current events isn't usually THIS bad, there seems to be a lot of abuse tonight....but sure what am i saying Katie? I am afterall, "only 20"!!!

Edit: don't worry, I wont be losing sleep over it, I just don't like it when my age is used against me despite my making (IMO) decent arguments. Am just scared that because of my age I will be categorised into the playground section of current events (ie. the little sandbox with the all the little trolls. most of whom seem to have gathered on here tonight). : )
Reply:With a few exceptions, this category is joke. I find it quite sad that a number of individuals seem to treat this section as a form of entertainment..It makes me wonder how empty their lives must be. I feel much the same as you on this one..I do still check to see if there's anything worth answering or reading though.
Reply:they don't bother me.
Reply:i'm just here for a laugh and have made some great mates on the way.

Yes i will voice my opinion, but i dont think it usually causes that much offence. Most of my contacts are 'on the other side'

In fact most of the time i have splinters from sitting on the fence and diffusing aggro. If i dont like a q i wont answer, simple as.

BUT when they directed at me, i will bite back.

Fair enough aint it?
