Current Events in Goverment for 07?

I haven't watched much TV since the year began and have missed much of whats being going in government and politics.

Would anyone mind telling some of the more notable or important events since the year started. Anything relating to the American Governmental Institutions (Congress, Executive Branch, the Courts or the General Beauracracy).

Have any important budget proposal taken place? any development overseas?

Pretty much anything you found interesting or may of heard/followed in the news.

(I'm writing a Government paper and need to gather several events so I can research them.)

Current Events in Goverment for 07?
Americans voted for and look to the new Congress for a change of direction for the nation on foreign and domestic issues from the reactionary toward the center and left.

The new Congress must deal with Medicare (Part D) drug benefit, the siege on Social Security and how to end the war in Iraq and bring the troops home. They also have to deal with the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. Then there is the threat of military action against Iran without evidence that they are a threat.

The question is: Do Democrats have an ideology to match conservatism or will they run from their liberalism? Will they hang as tough as the conservatives in pursuing their agenda to provide the activist and liberal government they promised?
Reply:except for the war in Iraq, it is business as usual
