Cyber Sunday main-events....?

"Today WWE announced the top two main events for this year’s Cyber Sunday pay-per-view. The RAW main event will be Randy Orton vs. Triple H for the WWE Championship. Fans will be able to logon to WWE.com and vote whether the match will be inside a Hell in the Cell, a No DQ match, or a Falls Count Anywhere match.

The SmackDown main event will be a Four Way bout for the World Heavyweight Championship with Batista vs. Finlay vs. Rey Mysterio vs. The Great Khali. Fans will be able to vote on WWE.com on who will be the guest referee. The choices are JBL, Mick Foley, or Steve Austin."

Your thoughts?

(I'm wondering why there is no Undertaker or Kane in the SmackDown main event.)

Cyber Sunday main-events....?
booooo it should be mrkennedy rather than hhh ya thats right KENNEDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

i vote for jbl
Reply:for raw -hell in a cell

for smackdown etheir stone cold or jbl
Reply:I would love to see Triple H vs Orton in a falls count anywhere match. However, it will be a Hell in a Cell because people think that maybe just maybe this one will be great like the old ones, and not suck like all the ones since Cactus vs Triple H. On the Smackdown side, I would love to see JBL as the referee. Of the three choices he is the most entertaining and has the best chemistry with the current talent. Austin will get picked simply because he is Stone Cold.
Reply:for HHH orton i hope its a hell in the hell and we see HHH become a twelve time world champion

for the fatal four way steve austin as i think jbl will eb too biased away from mysterio and batista cos they have ad a few arguments over the last few weeks and the mysterio rivalry has been goin on for nearly 2 years and i wouldn't like to see finlay as champ of khali agen altho i herd it was a fatal four way betwwenkhali batista taker and mark henry

i think kane and taker will win the tag title before cyber sunday and the fans will get to choose what type of match the matt mvp match is for the us title and also they get to chose who will face BOD for the tag titles probly out of the majors, deuce n domino and jesse and festus
Reply:I think that those are awesome main events except instead of finlay it should be the undertaker that would be a great match.
Reply:cool hope HHH wins the title back
Reply:where did u see dat?
Reply:i think its great but i think they can do better than that.i heard chris jericho should be coming back at cyber sunday.they should do a main event that includes him.oh yeah for you ppl

wondering where did he saw it.there showing promos on tv
Reply:I think Kane and Taker will win the tag titles this week and then defend them in a rematch at Cyber Sunday. I think the WWE champion match will be Hell in the Cell and the Sd main event will have JBL as the ref. JBL will spend most of the match tryin to screw Rey Mysterio but in the end Finlay is Batista Bombed by Batista and Rey hits 619 on JBl then Batista hits a spine buster on Khali and Rey Mysterio uses JBL's hand to call the 3 count.
Reply:because Kane %26amp; 'Taker will probably be the tag Team champions going into the PPV. They will have their own match.

Taker is still beat up, he needs to be in some tag matches so he doesn't have to carry the whole match and thus give his body a slight breather.
Reply:raw match hell in a cell trips always puts a good cell match on. and i would like to see jbl on the smack down rumor he was going to wrestle soon again anyways so it would be a way for him to screw someone and get in to the thick of things right away

Check out the Council of Nicaea. And what about the black plague? Maybe that was later.
Reply:Magna Carta Libertatum which was originally issued in 1215. This document is an important charter and is the earliest predecessor to constitutional law.

The Magna Carta came about because of a disagreement between Pope Innocent III, King John and the English Barons about the rights of the King. It required the British King to give up certain rights and acknowledge certain legal procedures that the monarch was taken to ignore before. Most important it said the King was bound by the law just like the common man.

Most importantly for the non-royal it contained the clause of Habeus Corpus which gave those arrested the right to seek justice against unlawful imprisonment.

Historical events facing adversity?!?!?!?

Ok, I'm homeschooled and I have an English II performance task to do. And you have to do it once a year, it's required by the state, and well I can't find anything on google or askjeeves about this. But do any of you have any ideas what I could write mine on? Here's what it says to do:

"You will assume the role of a museum curator who has been charged with creating an exhibit on historical events in which people had to face adversity. Your task is to find out what characteristics are common among people who had faced adversity and dealt with it in positive ways. You will select an historical even where people were challenged to learn form the past when facing adversity. You will need to find two different sources that will give you a basic understanding of the event itself, as well as two different accounts of this event from viewpoints of two different survivors."

But I absolutely am clueless and have no idea what to do it on.

Any suggestions?

Please and thankyou

KEY EVENTS OF "SPEAK," BY Laurie Halse Anderson??

I'm having trouble with my homework.

I have to: "create a mobile representing the key events from the book."

But I'm not so sure of what the key events are.

I'm putting a picture of the barn where she got raped,

Can anyone give me some more key events please?

KEY EVENTS OF "SPEAK," BY Laurie Halse Anderson??
How about one with tin foil or something on it, to describe how she held the shard of glass up to Andy's neck? Or a tree, broken into lots of pieces, to describe Melinda's art project? Maybe a picture of Maya Angelou, Melinda's heroine?

1. How about a tree broken up into different pieces, to show how she found new challenges in her art project?

2. A piece of the mobile shaped like a diamond, covered in tin foil, to represent the shard of glass she held up to the boy who attacked her?

3. A picture of Mary Angelou, Melinda's heroine?

The probabilities of events A and B are given by P(A) = 0.6 and P(B) = 0.22 respectively.?

The probabilities of events A and B are given by P(A) = 0.6 and P(B) = 0.22 respectively.

Find

(a) P(A ⋃ B) , if A and B are mutually exclusive events.

(b) P(A ⋃ B) , if A and B are independent events.

(c) P(A ⋂ B ' ) , if A and B are independent events.

The probabilities of events A and B are given by P(A) = 0.6 and P(B) = 0.22 respectively.?
1) P(A ⋃ B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A ⋂ B)

If A and B are mutually exclusive events then P(A ⋂ B) = 0 and

P(A ⋃ B) = P(A) + P(B) = 0.6 + 0.22 = 0.82

2) P(A ⋃ B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A ⋂ B)

If A and B are independent events then P(A ⋂ B) = P(A) P(B)

and P(A ⋃ B) = 0.6 + 0.22 - (0.6 * 0.22) = 0.688

3) If A and B are independent events then A and B' are independent events, and

P(A ⋂ B ' ) = P(A) P(B') = P(A) (1 - P(B)) = 0.6 * (1 - 0.22) = 0.468

To avoid conflicts in planning events, where can I find a calendar of national events, sports, holidays, etc?

I often have to plan office and company events, but I never know if there is a Superbowl, March madness, religious holiday,, etc. with which I might have a conflict. Is there one source where I can look to see what major events are scheduled weeks or months in advance so I can plan better? Obvioius sources for holidays are easy, but knowing what day major sports events are in two months, etc is a real problem. Any professional events planners out there.

Well, seems like you would want an "international" calendar to be aware of the religious events as their souls report to lands afar. You have to listen to the radio and tv to figure out when the superbowl is. Don't give them much leeway or credit if they ditch the events in favor of calendar excuses. That way you can seperate the "wheat from the chaff" and keep the chaff.

What event or events ushered in the WWE Attitude era . . .?

. . . and what event or events do you think signaled its demise?

Bonus Question -- What do you think will trigger a new WWE era?

What event or events ushered in the WWE Attitude era . . .?
When Stone Cold gave his famous "Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your @$$" speech the era really got started. But it wasnt just that. It was about having your own mind, doing what you wanted to, and not taking no. All you had to so was have a badass attitude and great wrestling skills. This is what started the growth of Stone Cold, Undertaker, The Rock, Kane, HHH, Shawn Michaels. Officially, I guess you can say it started when the logo was WWF Attitude. Thats it plain and simple. But many people spend time debating over when it took place. Many say it ended in 2003 (B.S). The demise of it, in my opinion came when the brand extension came about. WWE wanted to start competition between RAW and Smackodown to spice things up. This would only make less fueds possible and less pushes even though the intention was to give more stars the spotlight. It was almost like being placed in a smaller class at school, to make room for a teachers attention. But with less options to work with, this only limited a wrestlers ability to find chemistry with another wrestler and put on great matches. Then after that younger stars began to shovel right in. We saw the demise of the NWO and Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Hogan, X Pac, Big Show, Booker T, and others were left as singles competitors. Some left and some stayed. Basically the thought in WWE around 2003, even though it was still entertaining was that, we werent in the 90s. Whats the first thing that coms to mind when you think 1999? How about rabit, cult like, stylish, followings. When something was cool, it was COOL. And parents were starting to feel a bit skeptical about letting their children watch half naked men kill each other. Maybe its just a mother thing, I dont know about parenting. But WWE decided to tone it down. Cut out hardcore matches, and let wrestlers do their own thing on the tow seperate shows. Now we are at a point where it seems Vince is just tryring everything he never got to do years ago. Thats why all the crap goes to us IWC members or just anybody over 12. WWE has even gone so far as to make a WWE kids magazine and website which will be called wwekids.com after Wrestlemania. For more info on the Attitude Era refer to Youtube.com.
Reply:I started watching the Attitude Era after it had started so, I'm not sure... I'm guessing when Stone Cold Steve Austin became champ and Vince didn't approve of him. That was part of the Attitude Era, I guess...

So far the wrestlers that the WWE has have been through the Attitude Era or are too young and 'normal' to start another one. I don't think that another Attitude era will happen, not until a few years. Right now we're in the 'Depression Era' of the WWE. And this won't change until there is a wrestler who kinda' pushes the envelope. But even if that happens, almost everything has been done in the WWE during the attitude era that I don't think any of the new material will seem 'new-era' to us. That and we would probably complain about it anyways. There is no pleasing the WWE fan.

Below are some links which show holidays for 2007, 2008. They also have links for other years.

Good luck!
Reply:Well... for the Superbowl, to to the Superbowl website, http://www.superbowl.com/features/future... and it will tell you when/where the next 3 superbowls will be. Plan on March Madness always being in March (thus the name).

As for other events/holidays, go to a search engine and type in Holiday Calendars. It will pull up a whole list of calendars that can help you plot out the various holidays and religious days that you may need to avoid. Don't forget to check your state/city calendars.

If you find one caledar that lists everything, post that information here... I could use it for my job.
Reply:Not a professional event planner, but I think your best source is going to be to hook up to each organizations website and download their annual schedule. You should be able to get religious and government holidays from a good calendar although lesser religions may not be included. Good luck

Are these two events independent and why?

In a class of 30 students, there are 17 girls and 13 boys. Five are A students, and three of these students are girls. If a student is chosen at random, what is the probability of choosing a girl or an A student?

The answer is 19/30

But I don't care the answer,my question is:

Event A=choosing a girl

Event B=choosing an A student

Are these two events independent and why?

(I already figure out they are not mutually exclusive because these two events can occur at the same time)

Thank you.

Are these two events independent and why?
P(A)=17/30

P(B)=5/30=1/6.

If A and are independent P(A|B)=P(A)

P(A|B)=P(A intersection B)/P(B)

P(A intersection B)=3/30

P(A|B)=(3/30)/(5/30)=3/5

P(A|B) not equal P(A) ==%26gt; A y B are not independent.

Reply:The Holocaust was the effort of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in Germany to exterminate the Jews and other people that they considered to be inferior. As a result about 12,000,000 people - about half of them Jews - were murdered. The murders were done by every means imaginable but most of the victims perished as a result of shooting, starvation, disease, and poison gas. Others were tortured to death or died in horrible medical experiments.

Hitler took power in Germany in 1933 and almost immediately began the chain of events that led to the Holocaust. This first phase was the persecution of Jews in Germany and the other countries invaded by Hitler. It lasted until 1941. During this period, while Hitler built his power, Jews were persecuted and brutalized but there was no organized effort to systematically murder them.

In late 1939 Hitler invaded Poland, beginning the Second World War. In mid-1941 Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. At about the same time - historians do not agree on exactly when - Hitler also decided that there should be a "Final Solution" to "the Jewish question."

The "Final Solution" was the murder of the Jews and was mainly carried out by a military group known as the SS and a security service known as the SD. The Gestapo was part of the SD. They arrested Jews and other victims, ran the concentration camps and organized the murder squads.

During the first part of this extermination 1,500,000 Jews and other people were murdered by military groups which rounded them up and shot them. Gradually the emphasis changed to concentration camps, where the prisoners were worked to death as slave laborers, and extermination camps, where they were murdered in the gas chambers. The most famous of these was Auschwitz, which was both a labor camp and an extermination camp. About 1,300,000 people perished at Auschwitz; approximately 1,000,000 of those died in the gas chambers.

The Nazis targeted many groups for persecution - among them Catholics, Poles, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Communists - but only three groups were targeted for systematic extermination: Jews, the handicapped, and the Sinti and Roma (often known as Gypsies).

Sometime in 1944 it became obvious to most Nazi leaders (excepting Hitler) that they would soon be defeated and put on trial for what they had done. Several, including one of the worst of the criminals, Heinrich Himmler, tried to make deals with the Allies closing in on Nazi Germany. As a result the actual extermination stopped in November 1944, although thousands of people continued to die in the concentration camps. By that time most of the Jews who lived in Europe before the war, and millions of other innocent people, were dead. The war in Europe ended six months later, in May 1945.
Reply:The way I see there are three main catalysts to corruptive events....1) Political power 2) Economic wealth 3) Religion....

Every major corruptive event in both modern and ancient history has one of these factors as a catalyst....

1/ Power ...the rise of the 3rd reich, which resulted in WWII and deaths of millions of Jews.....

2/ Money ....slavery...need I say more...

3/ Religion...the spanish inquistion, Salem trials, colonization of the Americas, Africa etc, the crusades, 9/11....the list goes on...

you could try a hold your breath contest , either above ground or underwater. if water is available during the contest you could try a dive and retrieve coins or tokens for a prize for the most gathered in one breath. if it's at the beach there could be a sandcastle making contest for beauty (judged by everyone) or originality.if there is access to water try a teamed relay pass a 12 inch ball over and under blindfolded would add a note of laughter and fun,how many times can your team go through the whole team in a timed race. if the event is in a pool try a stand on one foot contest , last person standing gets a prize..the biggest thing is start these things at a very strict time so when the main event gets down to the nitty gritty the people are back to where they need to be as spectators. oh and the more people you have to share ideas and to help set this up the better..

How many decay events will be produced? Please explain to me what a "decay event" is... (more details below)

(a) What is the value of k in s-1?

(b)A sample contains 28.0 mg Cu-64. How many decay events will be produced in the first second? Assume the atomic mass of Cu-64 is 64.0.

For part (a) I calculated K as .000000627 1/sec

I don't know what a decay event is and I can't figure it out in my textbook or online. If someone could please explain to me what a decay event is (is it the amount of times the balaned reaction goes to completion? is it the number of Cu atoms that decay?)

Also if you could show me how to solve part (b) or at least give me the equation you used and answer. It must be in units of decays/s. I'm assuming you use the equation ln(N/No)=-kt

Any information at all that you can give me will be extremely helpful! Thank you so much!

How many decay events will be produced? Please explain to me what a "decay event" is... (more details below)
A decay event is simply an atom that decides to break down. K is the fraction of your material which decomposes per second. Work out how many atoms of Cu there are - 0.028/64 - and multiply by Avogadro's number and by k. This is how many atoms decay per second.

Multiply this by 1 sec to get the total number of decay events during the first second.

How do I share events between different Yahoo! Group Calendars?

I have one larger master event calendar that I work with. I would like to add specific events from this calendar to the calendar of another more focused Group.

I have noticed that the Groups calendar will allow me to add events to my own Yahoo! Calendar. Unfortunately there seems to be a transfer problem with this function: the event titles become truncated and the notes associated with the event do not transfer over at all.

Thanks for your help!

How do I share events between different Yahoo! Group Calendars?
It seems you have two questions. The first - unfortunately it isn't possible to overlay one group calendar on another group calendar, like you can with a personal calendar. that would be cool, yeah? hopefully groups will add that. you can't also add one event from one group to another. but if you have a one group that's a subset of another, you could still have one calendar and then just note which events are relevant to which group of people.

as for adding a group event to your personal calendar, it my experience it doesn't get truncated when adding to the personal calendar - it's when actually entering the event into y! groups. it, and personal calendar, allow you to paste gobs of text but it doesn't retain all that info. it does seem to have a decent amount of space though - but would be nice for them to make it clearer about the limit of that field.

I do have one suggestion that could help - if you have one event that is on your larger group, but don't want to retype it all, add it to your personal calendar and then create an invite off of it! you could add the smaller y! group email address to the invite - at least people will know about the event, know it's hosted by another group, and then you could also manage rsvps too.

good luck!

Little known events in history involving conflict and compromise?

what are some events that went down in history and was little known? the reason i want it little known is because i am writing a research paper and i want to make it special. i want to enchance that little-known event and open people's eyes. if you can't think of something little-known, you can name an event that is known very well among other people. the bottom line is that i can be an event in history or about somebody's life. plz stick to the theme "conflict and compromise". thanks to all those who helped made my goal possible.

Little known events in history involving conflict and compromise?
The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York City on March 25, 1911, was the largest industrial disaster in the history of the city of New York, causing the death of 146 garment workers who either died in the fire or jumped to their deaths. The fire led to legislation requiring improved factory safety standards and helped spur the growth of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, which fought for better working conditions for sweatshop workers in that industry.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangle_Sh...

The Texas City Disaster of April 16, 1947, started with the mid-morning fire and detonation of approximately 17,000,000 pounds (8,500 tons) of ammonium nitrate on board the French-registered vessel SS Grandcamp in the port at Texas City, Texas, killing 581 people. It also triggered the first ever class action lawsuit against the United States government, under the then-recently enacted Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), on behalf of 8,485 victims.

This settled disputes between English landowners and the king regarding the rights of the king. This is really important because it laid the foundation for Constitutional law, and thus there will be a TON of information on this. You could even use the document as a primary source. Below is a summary link.

One that you could try (this would be early Middle Ages) would be the Council of Constance that ended the Western Schism in the Catholic Church. There are lots of sources on this and it'll won't be a topic that everyone in your class picks, so it'll stand out! This link also below.

I just thought of something else you could look into if you'd be interested in researching something more modern. Historians agree that Otto von Bismarck is almost solely responsible for forming Germany in the late 19th century. The nature of Europe at this point in its history made it extremely difficult to accomplish this feat, BUT Bismarck was somehow successful. The cool thing about Bismarck is that he used both CONFLICT and COMPROMISE to achieve his objectives. A paper elaborating on how he did this would be quite unique and a great research project! Please send me an e-mail if you'd like in help figured out how to do this.

What are some important events from the book The Giver?

i need 10 important events in order from which they happened from the book the giver and an explanation to each one of those events

thanks =]

more specific this is what it says on my paper

Design a timeline for the important events in your book(the giver). This timeline must include 10 events and include an explanation of the importance of each event

What are some important events from the book The Giver?
Well, I would help you, but I haven't read the book for a year and am waaay to absorbed in HP to care about another book. Well what about the part in the end with the baby and when they find civilization? Either reread the book or ask a friend.... are you sure you read it? Anyway, sorry I can't help, Good Luck!!!!
Reply:Have you read the book? If not, then not even getting the answers will help you. It's not that long, you can read it in about 2-3 hours nonstop. And it's a great read.
Reply:An easy way to make such a timeline is just take one event from each of the first ten chapters.

Non-overlapping events and independent events?

I am so confused and need some help with my math :(

Thank you so much!

Discuss the concepts of non-overlapping (mutually exclusive) events and independent events.

How are these two concepts different?

List two examples of each type of event from everyday life.

Non-overlapping events and independent events?
Mutually exclusive events are ones which can't happen at the same time.

Examples

miss bus, catch bus

play chess, go to sleep

Independent events are those where the outcome of one does not affect the other.

Examples

win at chess, win the lottery

eat cornflakes or toast for breakfast, miss the bus.
Reply:Think of it this way:

If two events are independent, knowing that one happens give no information at all about whether the other will happen. So if A and B are independent and P(A)=1/2 and P(B)=1/3, then the probability that B will happen if A has already happened is STILL P(B|A)=1/3. Here, P(B|A) is the probability that B happens when you already know that A has happened.

Mutually exclusive events are ones that cannot happen together. So, if A and B are mutually exclusive and A happens, then you definitely know that B does not happen. This means you got extra information about B given what happens with A. So, P(B|A)=0.

Remember: independent events give no information about each other. Mutually exclusive events do: you know they can't both happen.
Reply:Two mutually exclusive propositions are propositions that logically cannot both be true

Two events are said to be independent if the result of the second event is not affected by the result of the first event.

Do you dread going to events, functions?

I have a problem with events or any kind of social function. I find out about an event, the event could be about 2 months in advance %26amp; I already begin to think of ways to get out of it I try to make myself busy on the day of the event, and say I can't make it. I tell myself that I don't need to be there and it doesn't matter if I'm not so I skip the event acting like I don't care, but I'll later ask about the event %26amp; how it went.

Over the last 6 years I noticed that I'm not as social as I once was I used to go out 4 nights a week, now I never go out to party with friends or even just to hang out with them. I find friendships to be hard work to maintain them so I don't even bother with them it's easier. I don't hate people, just rather not put too much time into knowing someone more than I have to, you know?

What is this called %26amp; why do I do this? Is there a medical term for this? If I countinue doing this what's the long term affect is this bad for me?

Does anyone else do this

Do you dread going to events, functions?
This condition is called "Growing Up". As we advance in age, we realize that there just isn't enough time to waste on stuff we don't like to do. We are old enough and financially independent enough to say "I don't need to sit through this crap anymore," and walk away. Some may call it progressive cynicism but I'd like to call it "becoming me".
Reply:General Social Anxiety

I do the same thing now but have realized that I have always had aspergers syndrome. Once I lost my positive modeling (good friends), I lost the social skills to deal with people or even like social events or crowds. I even tried going back to campus for another degree but gave up because of it....online works better for me now hands down...
Reply:Yes, that's me. I have social anxiety. I've been like this for years. Lately, I've grown tired of this and have formed friendships with a couple positive like-minded people and have been going out more. That's helped alot. I still hate going to malls and any place where there's going to be a crowd. But really, the only way to overcome this (besides professional counseling) is to put yourself in that type of environment.
Reply:I sometimes do.

What are the key events in chapters 1,2,3, and 4 of George Orwell's 1984?

There might be a pop quiz this week in College English class, and I need some help knowing / understanding the key events in the book we are reading in class, 1984 by George Orwell. If you know the key events in Chapters 1(pgs 1-20), 2(pgs 20-29), 3(pgs 29-37), and 4(pgs 37-48)of the book, post a response and tell me what you know in detail.

What are the key events in Chapter 1?

What are the key events in Chapter 2?

What are the key events in Chapter 3?

What are the key events in Chapter 4?

Simple answers like "I don't know" or "It's not my homework" or whatever will not be rated.

What are the key events in chapters 1,2,3, and 4 of George Orwell's 1984?
Neo kills Gandalf the Gray in Chapter 1.

Rush Limbaugh makes a welcome cameo as the the "foreign guy" in "Hostel" when he eats salad with his hands in Ch 2.

The crew of the Potemkin riot. Not known for their wacky antics they came to Odessa flying a red flag. A general strike had been called in Odessa and there was some unrest, for which the arrival of the battleship provided a focus and incentive. However, the representatives of the contact commission of the Odessa Social Democratic parties were not able to convince the battleship crew to land armed sailors and help workers to get weapons and act together. There was division and confusion amongst both sailors and striker in Ch 3

In Chapter 4 nothing happens. Signifying the impotence of modern living.

Hope this helps.

Ideas, singles party / events?

I am looking to set up a range of party events aimed at single people between the ages of 25 - 50, I do not want it to be a traditional singles event as I feel these are awkward, embarrasing and unlikely to attract people. I want to aim for quite a high class party where people can come and socialise, meet new people and have a drink, laugh etc but without the pressure to neccesarily date. I would like to know if this would appeal to you? what would you like the event to be called? Where would you like to see it? how much would you be prepared to pay for tickets etc...? Please give me some ideas as I would love to know what people would feel about such events and what sort of things they would like to see? P.S. This would not be swinging/sex events just incase anyone was thinking that!!!!

Ideas, singles party / events?
Comedy Shows , Evening party cruises to no where. Maybe on a Casino Cruise ship ?? Casino trips to Las Vegas. Mystery show dinners.

Jazz Concerts ? Tango / Ballroom dances w/ lessons ? Wine Tasting .

White water rafting / Kayaking, skiing / hot springs . Trips to dude ranches, etc .

Track events???

ok so i am in the 8th grade and i'm doing track for the first time and we are choosing events tomorrow and we need 3. i have no clue what to do, long distance is NOT an option, i was thinking the 100, maybe the 200, and then a field event like discus and maybe the tripple jump. what events are most popular and competetive? which ones do you need to be more skilled and experienced to be good? I was also curious what a meet is like, do a lot of people watch when you do your event? i am wicked scared i don't want to blow it and make a fool of myself.

Track events???
middle school? Don't listen to everyone telling you how hard or w/e the events are, it's middle school.

the 100 and 200 are really fun. The 100 esp. It's an all out sprint that you don't even get tired from.

Triple jump is really fun too, as w/ long jump just run really fast and you'll do good.

The 300m hurdles and 800m dash are the 2 hardest events in all of track.

throwing? easy and fun
Reply:I Love track too. My favorite event is the 200. It's awesome it's quick but slow at the same time. At my school (I'm also in the 8th grade) we have the long jump. That is most popular in my state. High jump is fun, but it;s good to have long legs. Umm, All the events are good. Short distance is for quick runners. Long distance is to build good stamana. Good luck.
Reply:I ran track in college and when I first started in high school I was terrified as well. Track meets are filled with lots of spectators and other athletes. It is understandable to be scare or a little frightened your first time, but in time you will learn to love the environment. Since you are in the 8th grade and you have already said that distance is out... I would say to do the 200 and 400. Why?? The 100m is loaded and if you are not semi-fast I would not do it. It is too short of a race and you must be fast. The 200m and 400m are also fast races as well, but they are also the races where youth of your age will give out the fastest. If you have a little endurance and some heart, you will be able to run these races and only get better! I never did field events, but if I had to choose one it would have been the discus because of my arm strength, and long jump because I could jump. Long jump will not take you very long to learn the steps, but in time you will have to learn your marks in order to get better. I am sure you will not make a fool of yourself. Work hard this week and you will eventually find your nitch and be a great athlete!
Reply:ask your coach what she thinks that you would be good at. since it is your first track year experiment!! try different combinations of what you run and make sure your running events aren't too close together. 400m, 800m, and mile relay is good ; ) that's what i run!
Reply:i'm on my third year of track. don't do any of the jumps unless they taught you how to jump. expecially triple jump. there are certain techniques too jumps that you should learn in practice before running at a meet.

if your good at pacing yourself then the 800 is good, and its only half a mile.

the 100 is super fast but its a short distance so it will be over soon enough.

the 200 is half a lap and you have to make sure you sprint the whole thing. if your good at sprinting then its a good event

the 400 which is one lap can be hard because it is longer but you will have more time to catch up to your competiters.

since you need three events maybe do a relay. relays are alot of fun, just make sure someone shows you which arm to catch the baton in.

depending on the meets it can differ on the amount of people watching you. usually your team will be cheering you on the whole time which is fun to hear your name called. if its an away game it wont be too scary cause most of the ppl there you wont see ever again [ except for your team mates] . i was really scared my first meet too but don't worry, it's only one meet and you will improve as the season goes on. good luck!
Reply:Don't worry about people watching you, the nice thing about track is there are usually small crowds and you can't really blow it. Even if you fall over in the middle of a race, everyone is just concerned and relieved when you get back up. I did track for 8 years, so I can promise that. Plus you generally make really good friends with your teammates, my best friend and I have been running buddies since track 8 years ago. So it's actually fun to compete, and fun to attend the meets since you get to hang out.

As for events, the 100 and 200 are nice shorter races, have you thought of doing a 4*100 relay? you'd need to practice hand offs but if you like the sprints, that'd be fun. I was a jumper and can say that without training you can still throw out a decent long jump and a decent triple jump. High jump you need to train for and work on technque to get good at, but it's incredibly rewarding and a lot of fun.

All the events can be pretty competitive, but track people are good people, so it's not in a mean way.

Just get out there and have fun, and good luck!
Reply:The 100 and 200 are quick races, and you have to be extremely fast. I would suggest the 400, once around the track, and the 800, twice around the track. They are not long distance either. In field events you have to be extremely good to come in the top. I am a track runner, but I have never participated in a field event. If I had to choose I would be high jump or long jump. Pole Vaulting seems like fun, but you have to have a huge amount of upper body strength. I suggest you give one event a try and if you don't like it switch to a new event. Just remember there is always room for improvement in any event. Good Luck.
Reply:So if you are a beginner go for the 100 and 200 and for feild events I go for long jump

Complementary events?

If two events, Event A with probability P(A) and Event B with probability P(B) are complementary events then

A. P(B) = P(A)

B. P (A) · P( B) = 0

C. P(B) = 1 - P(A)

D. P(A) + P(B) = 0

im not sure what exactly this is?

Complementary events?
complementary events A and B: what A doesn't cover, B does. together they cover all the possibilities.

Ex: 5 red balls, 3 blue balls

A = drawing a red

B = drawing a blue

P(A) + P(B) = 1

thus, the answer is c

Relating these modern events to biblical events?

I have here five modern events. The person who gives the best biblical event to each item (with explanatioN!) gets a full 10!

1. You lost your father during childhood.

2. You met a person whom you think was very nice, and cared for you like a parent.

3. This person whom you think was nice, was actually a nightmare because the person's true color is a bad, selfish person.

4. You made up too much anger with this person and argued with him/her in order to defend your propositions.

5. You and the person were able to make up and promised that the both of you will lead a good life from now on.

Remember, one event per item! But, you may repeat if you have to...because the modern events are closely related...but make sure that it is really, really related if you would repeat.

EXAMPLE:

You were able to enter your dream school.

----I can relate this to the venture of the israelites for the promised land / greener pasture.

Thanks.

I have it set to show 3 days of events. Resetting the refresh rate and clearing the cache has had no effect. Any suggestions on how to get the "events" portion back?

Events in life change based on our psychological expectations of them?

Is there any kind of philosophy which supports the idea that the outcome of events in life may shift based on combined psychological expectations (the collective mind)?

For instance, we send a team of astronauts into space. The last mission there happened to be a close call and we almost lost someone to an accident. Our level of expectation that NASA will succeed in the next mission seems to slightly diminish in the public's eye. If you went and surveyed everyone their general expectation may be on the low side. After some time, NASA improves their program and lets the media know this. Soon the public regains faith in NASA. It may seem obvious that the psychological is a result of all physical events, however, what if you believe that the overall psychological collective is what pre-determines the outcome of any event. Is there a name for this belief? Would simply the word "psychosomatic" describe it best or is there an entire philosophy based on this kind of thinking?

Events in life change based on our psychological expectations of them?
why do you think "spin doctors" are paid so much by so many different kinds of organizations? but i don't really think our "expectations" or "beliefs" about something completely out of our control physically can determine the outcome. different story if the person with the expectations or beliefs has some physical control. what if the NASA guy expects a bad outcome, and is therefore careless in his choice of buttons to push? or psychosomatically causes the error? the mind is a terrible thing.................to f____around with, i mean.
Reply:IT'S NOT THE CARDS YOUR DEALT IT'S HOW YOU PLAY THEM.
Reply:Well of course there is a connection. Our minds tell our bodies HOW to REACT and WHEN.
Reply:This is not really "philosophical" because you do not describe any particular way of reasoning that happens within a persons mind, but its surroundings.
Reply:You think too much.

Relax.
Reply:there is a philosophy based on this idea, most of it is focused into Buddhism, although their is many different separate beliefs and groups in this organization, most feel that our thoughts generate our environment so that what you mention here is completely acceptable, and reasonable.
Reply:I believe that our psychological expectations matter a lot in events of our life. The mind rules. We get what we want and loose what we do not want. Even the strategy for this is determined by the mind. If we want something but our strategy is wrong then of course we will not get it. Maybe my view is from a different angle than yours. Good luck!

The Gulf of Tonkin "incidents", which directly led to the escalation of US involvement in Vietnam, later found false. Interestingly, it was considered a conspiracy theory for many years. 50,000 US soldiers dead, and countless wounded. Perhaps 1.5 million N Vietnamese, many in the South.

That's only one, but sure is engraved in my mind. Some relevance to Iraq and how we got there.

of all occuring .2
Reply:Given events D, E, F, and G are independent i.e the probability of occurance of each event is not depends upon the probability of occurance of other event.

Given P(D) = 0.4

P(E) = 0.6

P(F) = 0.3

P(G) = 0.2

P (D and F and G) = P(D) x P(F) x P(G)

Events / things may happen in my life . . . but their not who I am.?

People at times experience ' ill ', challanging, or sad events in their life and don't move forward in the lifes saying "Oh, but I had such and such happen to me...that's why I am this way today".

Those ' ill ' events are what another put on them...or what life put on them . . . but it's not who they authentically are.

Why do many not see that and simply ' take that ill fitting coat ' that another ' put on them ' them saying "this is who you are". Why not simply take that ' coat ' off and say to "them" . . . " you may think that this looks good on me . . . but it's not me " and shuck that coat and move on.

Why do so many hold themselfs ' emotional hostage ' and not move forward ?

This can apply to personal events in ones life or society's guidelines / thoughts of outdated mindsets.

.

Why not have courage of inner strength of personal self and move forward. ?

It only takes one person. Those many 'one persons' voices and stance to speaks volumes.

Events / things may happen in my life . . . but their not who I am.?
Your are right. The events that happen in ones life does not define them. What it is that you learn from those events is what makes them. It is what makes you either grow from that life learning experience or it makes you hold on to it leaving you stagnant. It is up to the individual and whether they are ready to grow in all dimensions.
Reply:Yes i agree, you must be true to yourself

We should embrace all that life has to offer because each experience can enrich our lives

We each also have a "Right to Choose" from the choices we are faced everyday because this is how we experience life in order to control our lives and our own destiny ... we must Respect each others Rights

Thats not to say however, that we cannot offer more opportunities or choices
Reply:while i agree we should move on,,,,,, and not let other people define us,,,,, often its not so simple as "taking a coat off",,, life events have an impact on us,,,, and change us,,,,,, we can strive to make the change positive,,, but we have to take the event,,,,, incorporate it into who we are,,,, (deal with it) then move on,,,,,like with child abuse, you dont "get over" having had that happen, you dont know what you would of been like if it hadnt happened,,, you dont forget,,,,, but you dont dwell on being a victim,,,,, you accept it,,, try to deal with the negative, and move on as a stronger person,,,,, so i would more think of it as people/events can put scars on you,,,,, but you are not the scar,,, it is just something you have
Reply:Sometimes their friends or relatives are a constant reminder of their pain. It depends on who actually inflicted the pain. Most victims don't know how to move forward...the pain has become "comfortably numb"
Reply:I'd say that fear is the answer. Fear to move beyond the pain. Fear that more pain will come. For many, it is easier to accept "ill" as you put it, and dwell within it....that way, there is something to blame for the choices you make. And yes, not choosing is a choice. By accepting the ills and dwelling within them, you CHOOSE to let them be who you are.

For society, it would be the same. Fear of the unknown, fear of trying and failing. Though, on a much larger scale.
Reply:The answer is simply that we are not all the same. We are individuals and as such we each deal with life in our own way. I have had hardships in my life but, fortunately, I do have an inner strength that I was able to call on to get me through, to help me to forgive (mostly myself). As a result, I was able to grow wiser from the events. My sister, on the other hand, is not built that way. In times of difficulty she has turned to drugs, alcohol and sex. Therefore, it is harder to cope because she doesn't have the courage to say to herself "I can handle this (situation) and grow stronger because of it".
Reply:perhaps it can be due to mental confusion/exhaustion, the transgression of understanding of ones own inhibitions and how it plays a role unto themselves, maybe because of our programming and mental conditioning our modern society has set up for us, they set us up to give up, they want us to kick back and ignore our own problems (because we are all living here simultaneously dealing with the same synchronicistic troubles), perhaps its just time wearing on us as humans, the stress and erosion our bodies endure as a result of the passing of time, and our brains filling up with so much information that it effects our bodies and therefore our mindsets...quantum physics says that memories are just chemically induced holographs and that the reality we live is part of the chemical "addiction" that our brain seeks out, from the holographs of our friends and a good time at the bar to holographs of vivid dreams that the soul recollects in the timeless void, and as humans we are just constantly seeking out new stimuli to fill our brains and our minds with fresh quantum realities, always different never the same (but a lot of times we feel its always the same never different, but paradoxically its both) its all a struggle within..

Where past events go?

do they stay in some kind of eternal form in spiritual realm or they are just part of our memory? probably we forget something that is not written or recorded? However, if something is written and recorded or just helps our memory to recall the event - is such event reality because it happens now? For example, if in a newspaper or on television is writing and talked about some past events, they are actualised.

so, with enough repetition of past event it become reality. therefore, in such case past is not past, it is reality.

if some person in his/her mind still recall some old lover, such person is still in love and such love is reality. let us suppose that some person wears the dress he/she was not wearing for years. such fashion for such person become reality and in the moment when such dress is taken from shelf, it is not past anymore.

if you take photo from past and if you put such photo in your room such photo becomes reality in your life. therefore, past events can be reality

Where past events go?
Dude you are so stoned.

what are some events that went down in history and was little known? the reason i want it little known is because i am writing a research paper and i want to make it special. i want to enchance that little-known event and open people's eyes. if you can't think of something little-known, you can name an event that is known very well among other people. the bottom line is that i can be an event in history or about somebody's life. plz stick to the theme "conflict and compromise". thanks to all those who helped made my goal possible.

Little known events in history involving conflict and compromise?
I've always found the 24 hour cessation of hostilities on Christmas Eve in the trenches of World War One a remarkable story.

I would think it's fairly well known (I hope, anyway), but you can add compassion, camaraderie and shared misery to your conflict and compromise instructions.

You could also Google : US Civil War/ Brothers/Meeting - things like that. They (the soldiers) would slip through the lines all the time to visit with family members on the other side of the War. I'm sure you'd be able to find numerous examples of specific events if you looked a bit.

Good Luck! Nice premise...

60 trillion events culminating to homsapiens?

it took an estimated 60 trillion " contingent events" ( events occurring that are required for the next event to occur ) to culminate the arrival of homsapiens. This to me is a big problem for those who believe in random accidental creatorless evolution because if you do the math of life starting 4 billion years ago and converted it into hours i would be a 35 trillion 40billion hours that translates to these events occuring on an average of just about 1 event an hour.

Is evolution really that fast and if so why has it suddenly in the last 250,000 years come to a vertual stand still.?

Can anyone who is itelectually honest explain how this is possible

60 trillion events culminating to homsapiens?
Evolution didn't "culminate" in Homo sapiens. Homo sapiens appeared during the course of evolution. And evolution certainly has not come to a virtual standstill in the last 250000 years! Where did you get that idea? Anatomically modern humans have only been around for 100000 years or so, and I think it's arguable that fully modern people only appeared about 40000 years ago.

Anyway, I don't know where that 60 trillion figure comes from. But given that there are, at any given time, trillions of organisms on the planet, one an hour doesn't seem absurd.
Reply:Well I actually went to the effort of tracking down your source:

"Harvard biologist Stephen J. Gould, who formulated the theory of punctuated equilibrium, stated in a PBS interview A Glorious Accident ca. 1991, by Dutch producer Wim Kayzer, “An accident is the 60 trillion contingent events that eventually led to the emergence of Homo Sapiens…" "

A number picked out of the air in a philosophical discussion. I think you've demonstrated extreme intellectual dishonesty.
Reply:well im sure 59.9 trillion of the events are stupid... like .... fish saw other fish... other fish swam away,... first fish chased second fish.... fish made love.... fish died before new fish born.... big fish ate dead body of small fish.... big fish had sex with another big fish.... big fish had baby fish that jumped out of water into air... flying fish
Reply:Evolution is not a faith!Faith requires belief in a thing. Evolution is about knowledge. Knowledge is about understanding a thing.

You talk about faith. Faith is believing snakes can talk, that floods can cover the entire earth and, that dead men get up and walk and talk. None of this has any proof at all except in a book that was cobbled together from different sources 1700 years ago. Then those sources that make up your book came from everywhere else including Iraq 3000-4000 years ago. None of it has any basis in fact at all compared with evolution.

Julius Ceaser- First emporer to enforce physical education. Came up with the Olympics.

early 4th century-Constantine was the roman emporer to abolish the geneocide of all christians. Made Christianity the official roman religion. Without him, christianity probably would have not existed today.

Attending boyfriend's social events.?

My bf has to attend lots of social events due to his job (trade %26amp; finance) and he always wants me to attend it with him. I feel happy but the problem is that our age difference is 23 years and im still an undergrad. I've been to his social events before but i cant fit in! I've got no common topic with any of those showy people attending the event. They talk about stuffs that simply is out of my world. I dont like attending such dinners or events and i dont wanna pretend to be classy and sophisticated like wad some ladies do during the whole evening. What is a student like me gonna do at such events? We're very happy %26amp; comfy together on normal days but when it comes to attending such events, i feel like we arent suitable bcuz he lives in a diff. world. Social events like these r common and i haf 2 find a way to solve it. Wad shld i do? Force myself to attend it everytime? Or miss it everytime (is this possible?). Pls help!

Attending boyfriend's social events.?
You shouldn't be forced, or feel like you should be forced to attend these events. Your boyfriend should be very understanding of the fact that they just don't interest you. I know he wouldn't want to go to a chick flick (something like the Notebook - what guy would?). You know what I mean? There's better things you could do with your time, and if he complains you didn't go, that's crazy.
Reply:I understand that it makes you unconfortable, but I say go with your man. I dont think that you would want him to take anyone else.

Are extraordinary events necessarily miracles?

Religious people refer to extraordinary events in their lives as "proof" or "indication" of the truth of their faith. My simple calculation however, shows that extraordinary events are bound to occur not necessarily because of a god, but because of chance. If every human on earth were to experience just 1 thing every day (no matter how trivial the experience), for every day of their lives..

6.6 billion * 1experience *365days/year, the number of possible events comes to 2.4 trillion, some the same, some different. Now we calculate the number of events during the average lifetime of lets say 30 years pessimistically. 2.4tril*30=72.3trillion events.

Out of 72.3 trillion possible events(minimum), MANY so-called "miracles" are bound to happen on their own, without the intervention of a god.

Anyone find any problems or missing pieces to my statement?

Are extraordinary events necessarily miracles?
The term "miracle'' is an argument from incredulity, which is a fallacy.
Reply:I see a huge problem with your statement. It is based on the premise that these extraordinary events are without the intervention of God, however, you can not and do not prove that. That is, how do you know that these events occured without the intervention of God? You don't. So, people like you will see these events as random happenings but one who believes in God and has faith will see them as miraculous. Until someone can prove the existence or non existence of God, we will all be left to interpret events based on our own belief and value system.
Reply:No. A miracle is an event that cannot be explained in natural terms. If a person is near death from a systemic infection and antibiotics have not worked, but then the antibiotics kick in and the person survives, that's pretty extraordinary, but it doesn't qualify as a miracle, because it has a natural explanation - the antibiotics finally kicked in. But if a person has malignant tumors in his lung that have been identified by biopsy, and is scheduled for surgery, but his church community prays over him, and the morning of the surgery the family insists on another xray, and there is no sign of tumors - that's a miracle. And yes, such things do indeed happen.
Reply:No, because if you expect EVERYTHING God says in His Word, then when it happens, no matter how extraordinary it may seem, it's normal for those who TRULY believe.

Suppose events mirroring those in Revelations began occurring...?

First off let me mention that I don't mean to debate whether or not those events are already taking place. That is irrelevant for this question. Now that that's taken care of... :]

If certain blatantly obvious events in Revelations began, like the formation of a New World Order, what exactly would you do?

-If you are not a Christian would you consider looking into the religion? Why or why not?

-If you are Christian would you want the events to happen, or would you want to try to stop them from happening? Why or why not?

-How would you try to push forward or stop the events?

I'm talking about events that so closely mirror those in Revelations that there is no arguement whatsoever that what's taking place is what the scripture is referring to (hence the New World Order).

Should be some interesting responses :]

Suppose events mirroring those in Revelations began occurring...?
I believe that the rapture will occur before the NWO hits. That means Jesus will come back for all the Christians (reborn people) and take them to heaven. So I don't think the christians will be on earth then.

For the people that are left behind they will probably either realize that the Christians weren't 'nuts' and were telling God's truth and become a Christian........or they will hate God even more because He left 'them' behind.

As a Christian, we should know the events that are ahead of us, and they will happen in God's perfect timing, so I don't think we have much say consider we're just human and He is God.
Reply:Guess we'll be watching and waiting... we have so far...
Reply:The problem is they are so broad they could mean anything. ALL of the biblical prophecies are this way. The mark of the beast was supposedly social security numbers and then it was credit cards and now it is the Verichip. All prophecies not mentioning a specific date are nothing more than broad generalizations.

I still wish I had kept that one guys huge list of prophecies that didn't come true.
Reply:What do you mean, IF the events began?

I no longer fear what the future holds--and here's why. I came upon the book that explains exactly what ALL of Revelation means--the locusts, the mark of the Beast, 666, the dragon, the 2 witnesses, etc. I mean EVERYTHING.

I used to belong to a church (for over 35 years) and followed all of the guidelines and "commandments" to a T. It turned out that they were the precepts of men. I now know the truth, and the truth has set me free.

Free from the fear of man and the future. Free from another individual controlling me--ever again.

I will not try and stop the events, other than to share the truth with those who really want to know.

If you care to know what ALL of Revelation means, I suggest you read the book too.

Events that led to the civil war.......?
I don't need the points that badly to do all of your homework, but Abraham Lincoln credited the woman who wrote "Uncle Tom's Cabin" (it wasn't really meant as a compliment, of course).

You might want to answer these:

The first slave to arrive at one of the 13 colonies?

The westward expansion and addition of new states (slave or non-slave)?

The Dred Scott Decision?

The invention of the cotton gin?

The Revolutionary War, Declaration of Independence, and ratification of the US Constitution?

John Brown's raid at Harper's Ferry?

The secession of the southern states?

The Missouri Compromise?

The Underground Railroad?

Northern religious fundamentalists?

The industrialization of the North?

The innovation of "interchangeable parts"?
Reply:I'm a History major but I'm not going to help you out. I'm tired of questions like this. You probably have a big fat History book sitting on your desk next to the computer, its calling you "Open me! Please! I'll do anything!" "I'll even give you the answer to your hw questions!"

Events for Children!!!?

I need some ideas! I am the Playground Coordinator for the city I live in. Which means I handle all the events for the children. I have pool parties, dances, something for every holiday... from egg hunts to halloween carnivals... Which all these events go well, but im needing to implament new programs... (for children up to 16yrs in age) It's very hard to find things that all children are going to want to participate in. So any ideas would be greatly appreciated. All are events are free, free admission and free food when offered. The only thing we ever ask for is a canned good which we donate to the salvation army!!! So please if anyone has any ideas for new events I would greatly apprecate it!!

Events for Children!!!?
It sounds as though you are very recognized in your community, so my suggestions will be based on that.

Moon bounce, inflatable rock climbing wall

Companies in my area will donate the items and workers for the day, it gives them tons of exposure

Then you can also inform local franchises (which I'm sure you have done before)

Maybe one icecream company, one food company, to get your food, the same thing it gives them exposure.

Get some people together, have a craft table

have beads to make necklaces, or mini sand art, maybe someone doing facepainting
