Check out the Council of Nicaea. And what about the black plague? Maybe that was later.
Reply:Magna Carta Libertatum which was originally issued in 1215. This document is an important charter and is the earliest predecessor to constitutional law.

The Magna Carta came about because of a disagreement between Pope Innocent III, King John and the English Barons about the rights of the King. It required the British King to give up certain rights and acknowledge certain legal procedures that the monarch was taken to ignore before. Most important it said the King was bound by the law just like the common man.

Most importantly for the non-royal it contained the clause of Habeus Corpus which gave those arrested the right to seek justice against unlawful imprisonment.
Reply:Gee! Only 5,000 years of recorded history to choose from!

Norman invasion of england

Extermination of the Cathars by the Catholic church

Charles Martel's defeat of the Islamic armies at Poitiers

Reply:The signing of the Magna Carta - Changed the way Lords and serfs interacted, beginnings of democracy in Post Dark Ages Europe

Alexander the Great - United 3 continents - Europe, Africa and Asia. Changed the way "victors" treated the conquored people.

(BTW, you need to at least wiki these for yourself!)
Reply:Discovery of America?

Happened thousands of years ago when man crossed the Bering Strait.
