Talent shows are always popular, and by donating a little money to the charity of the winner's choice it could also become a service project. A small budget is okay- every little bit helps. And if it's for a good cause, you're more likely to get help from local businesses.
Reply:when i was in college we organized an academic bowl, like a jeopardy type thing, money to buy in, attracted lots of people, easily advertised, school was all for it, we made a few hundred bucks off it
Reply:Make it something simple. Perhaps a bake sale to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Or you could try a competition of your own. What are the others doing? Perhaps a guitar competition (with music majors as unpaid judges) or a kareoke event could be a big hit. If you have a gaming system you could arrange a tournament (Halo 2 is popular on my campus). Good luck!
Reply:First of all I would contact local area businesses to get prizes i.e. movie tickets, free meals etc. to use for prizes. Make a list of the participating businesses. Then come up with a game they can play to win the prizes. The students will really enjoy winning prizes. And the local businesses will benefit from return visits from the students.

Good luck!
