Events in Paris December 2006?

We're going to Paris, France from Dec 15 - Dec 24 and will be staying in a rented apartment two blocks from the Louvre. Does anyone know of any special "local" events going on at that time? Last time in Paris, we went to a free strings (viola, violins, bass, cello) concert in a nearby 16'th century church; I'm hoping to find something like that. Or, a Christmas Market. I can find the "big" events like opera, ballet, tours, etc; but looking for something quaint. When we were in Innsbruck for Christams five years ago, they built in the Altstadt a festival that had vendors of locally made items (knitted accessories, trinkets, etc) and booths of mulled wine, and music. That was awesome! Also, even so we're only there a week, we'd like to buy a Christmas tree for our apartment. Are there tree lots in the city? Thank you SO much for your help and input! You all are the best! B.E.S.T.

There is usually a small Christmas market in front of St Eustache church (close to your apartment), and they sell Christmas trees. But I have to say that Christmas markets are not a real tradition in Paris and are often disappointing, only selling useless and cheap gadgets....

You can take a look at www.cityvox.fr, a good source of information about local events. And when you are in Paris, the free newspapers Metro and 20 Minutes, available in most subway stations, or Le Parisien (which is not free) all have local pages. If you understand french, the best local radio station for this kind of information is France Bleu IDF 107.1
Reply:I'm going next week to Paris to visit family...The only thing I do know that is happening that is different is you can go ice skating on the eifel tower. DON'T BRING YOUR SKATES!!! You have to rent them there.

Also, the Lourve is nice but I would go to the D'Orsay. I enjoy that museum better.
