Help w/compiling current events for school yearbook?

What events do you think are critical enough that they should go in a high school yearbook? The events can go back as far as March of 2006 to the present but preferably post events starting in the summer till now. They can be anything: political, cultural, entertainment, etc. If you can, please cite your source so I can look it up. So far I have: First female Speaker of House-Nancy Pelosi...Saddam Hussein hanged...North Korea agrees to disarm... Golden Globes(I'm hoping to include something about the Oscars too... It's supposed to be current events for 2006-2007 but it can be interesting things too. Most people don't care about this section in the yearbook until years later when they look back at it. Any suggestions are welcome. :) Thanks in advance.

I'm a Journalism major and I say all that you have listed are great . Maybe add that former president Ford died and James Brown

You have some great ideas.

Reply:Just pick few from each category; politic, sport, entertainment, education...etc. Don't do all politics or all entertainment. Spread it out over various topics.
Reply:Halliburton charged with selling nuclear technology to Iran
Reply:the Helsinki riots is a good one that should be included
Reply:North Korea didn't agree to disarm. They agreed to halt their nuclear testing. IF they had, in fact, agreed to "Disarm", there would, nearly, be dancing in the White House and Congress, and it would be the most historical event of the last 25 years (maybe aside from the fall of USSR). They did, however, tentatively agree to a real peace treaty with South Korea, which would officially end the Korean War, nearly 50 years after the fact. That is notable, I suppose.

I also believe Lieberman's re-election as an Independent in Connecticut rates at least a footnote.

Obama's current fame should be included, especially if, looking back, he makes something of himself, and this is where it all begins. On the other hand, he probably won't. It's a gamble.
